Lewis Hamilton, five times Formula One World Champion πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

Statistically the most successful British driver in F1. The most wins, the most career points, the most pole positions, the list goes on and on.
Will this year be championship number six? That would be ahead of Juan Manuel Fangio and one away from the all time record of Michael Schumacher.
This painting I actually started last April but only just finished it just before Christmas as plenty of other stuff got in the way, since then all I’ve just done some finishing touches to try and blur some lines to give an impression of depth of field. The idea was to keep the helmet sharp, completely blur the background and to a lesser extent take the sharpness off the lines at the back and the front of the car. I did this simply with a wet brush on the edges which worked ok.
If you’re into F1 you may recognise the car doesn’t have the halo. I’m not a fan of that new design, I suspect if Lewis does make it six then I’ll do a portrait not involving the car 😏

Really cool! I can’t see why Hamilton wouldn’t go on to break all the records. Unless something really awful would happen to him. Eep… knock on wood and don’t want to jinx him. 😲

Thanks Michael, that’s what I was hoping for.
My next racing driver painting (won’t be for a month at least) will be something different again. Likely to more creativity over attempted realism this year.
