Curly red

Trying a new technique with a brush pen.

    • Yes, it is quite small.

That is an issue that I have yet to overcome. It’s a beginner’s trait to draw small, I think next year I’ll be trying to at least aim to fill up the sheet – this is only A5 and the drawing only takes up a quarter of that!

Any ‘home’ practice should be A4 at least I guess…

      • Yes, I am guilty of possessing the same trait. I forced myself to move to a larger sketchbook (A4) and I’m very glad that I did. It simply gives you more room to include the details. I would encourage you to do the same.

    • Thank you very much Herb, appreciated πŸ˜€

It won’t take long, just practice practice practice. What make did you get? I’ve only tried Pentel and if it wasn’t for seeing that others could get decent results with them they’d have been in the bin long ago. Very tricky at the start!!!

This is the first time I’ve tried shading with it rather than hatching. Much much more to learn…

      • I got a colour Faber-Castell set and a fine liner set that has a brush pen in it. Its really hard getting the detail with them. Like you say though its all about the practice.
