A couple of agricultural watercolour sketches 🚜

Not sure why but barns and agricultural stuff features quite often in watercolour tutorials.

Probably because you’ve got the white light side, unpainted as it’s the paper. And the shadows laid on fairly easily.

Also, much less precision required than some subjects so as a beginner that’s quite encouraging.

    • Yes, it’s fun.

      I’ve had a couple of false starts before this where I had the intention but ended up defaulting back to drawing when it didn’t go as planned.

      I decided though that this year I really need to crack on and accept the failures as they occur, and learn from them of course. It’s exactly what I did when I started drawing so I don’t know why I didn’t adopt that attitude before.

      These are small and simple which helps boost the confidence.

      A world of difference between 2 inches and A2 format so a long way to go. Have to learn to walk before you can run, I’m crawling fairly well though 😉
