Playing around πŸ–ŒοΈ

Throwing the paint around trying stuff out.
Found this a useful exercise, watercolour in itself has been good to learn since the start of the year because it’s semi-controllable nature helps to break the perfectionist in me.
This though was the first time I’ve really been chucking it experimenting but also attacking a piece of work that I’ve spent hours on.
Previously I’ve slowly and carefully added brush strokes on this, considering the colour mix, using a little brush, spending an hour poring over a square inch of paper. This morning I poured water over part of it and scrubbed it with a toothbrush 😳
“Not overly caring” about the picture is actually improving it dramatically.

Well it was just experimenting to see what happened, the toothbrush scrubbing was on the path leading to the farmhouse.
The top of the other practice sheet I was aiming for a fuzzy foliage look, I want to do a foliage background for a portrait that I’m going to try and do but I want the focus on the faces. Overall it looks ok but I’d need to make it fuzzier. It’s given me a base to work from, better to do it on a practice sheet rather than the one I’ve carefully drawn up.
If the farmhouse picture doesn’t work out (could do with scrubbing out those overly dark hills) then I’m thinking of adding a UFO blasting up the farm with laser beams.

Ahahahahaha! I love it!!! The out of focus background for a portrait is a fab idea. This painting thing is really working out for you!
